.5 credit semester, Grades 9-10

This course offers an introduction to all aspects of music from composition to sound recording. Music from many cultures and historical periods is examined in an attempt to answer the question:

​

How does today’s popular music and contemporary rock and roll reflect and build on music of the past?

 

Students will do some basic composition; learn about how music works by studying music vocabulary and chord progression through extensive listening to all styles of music that influence what we hear today. Students will also do some basic piano keyboard and sound recording using GarageBand and ProTools.
